It started with a question mark over everything we owned.
A family story about a newborn, a stubborn pan, and a tool that quietly lived in Korean kitchens for generations.
2022. Our son was born.
A few months in, he was diagnosed with multiple allergies and eczema — and every product in our home suddenly felt like a question mark.
We started reading labels we'd never read before. Eventually we got to our cookware. What we learned about certain non-stick coatings was enough. We switched to stainless steel that week.
Stainless steel is honest. It's also hard to live with.
Food stuck. Heat marks wouldn't come off. Every fix online either damaged the pan, damaged the planet, or came with a warning label I didn't want near my kids.
I spent months looking for something better. I didn't find it in any store.

She had been using a small disc — natural mineral stone backed with rubber — for years. Not just on her stainless steel. On her brassware too: the traditional Korean vessels used at cultural ceremonies. When she saw us struggling, she handed one to me and told me to try it.
